3.Why do rental car companies charge a deposit?

In car rental, a security deposit is a sum of money that a supplier holds on to until the customer returns the rental car. The supplier uses this money to pay for any unexpected charges such as damages to the car and speeding tickets.

4.Why did SCH charge me extra?

SCH puts a hold on your account for the full cost of the rental plus the security deposit. When you return the vehicle, SCH releases the hold and only charges the amount of the rental. In effect, the security deposit portion of the hold disappears immediately.

N$ 5 000

8.How do you avoid a delay deposit on a rental car?

Fill up the car – if your hire car is 'full to full', which means you will need to return the car with a full tank, use a filling station close to the rental office and keep the fuel receipt. Leave the car in a good state as you could be charged for extra cleaning if the car is extremely dirty.

9.What happens if I don't return my rental car on time?

If you rent a car and don't return it, you are essentially depriving the owner of the property – the car rental company – of their property. If the owner of the car calls the police and reports the car stolen, then you could be charged with auto theft.

10. Do I get a refund if I return my rental car early?

If you need to drop off your car earlier than expected, call the local number the rental company should have given you with the paperwork you got when you picked up the car. You will not receive a refund for the unused days, but there shouldn't be any charges for returning the car early.

12. Standard insurance explained:

Standard insurance typically works by providing coverage for various types of damages or losses in exchange for a premium paid by the insured party. Excess, also known as a deductible, is the amount of money the insured has to pay out of pocket before the insurance coverage kicks in.

Minimum Excess of N$ 5000: This means that regardless of the total damage or loss, the insured party is responsible for paying at least N$ 5000 out of pocket before the insurance coverage applies. For example, if the damage is N$ 3000, the insured would pay the full N$ 3000 because it's below the minimum excess. However, if the damage is N$ 7000, the insured would pay N$ 5000, and the insurance would cover the remaining N$ 2000.

Maximum Excess of 10% of the value of the damage: This implies that if the damage exceeds a certain amount, the excess will be calculated as 10% of the value of the damage. Let's say the damage is N$ 20,000. In this case, 10% of N$ 20,000 is N$ 2000. So, the insured would pay N$ 2000 as the excess, and the insurance would cover the remaining N$ 18,000. However, if the damage is N$ 50,000, then 10% of N$ 50,000 is N$ 5000, but since the minimum excess is N$ 5000, the insured would pay N$ 5000, and the insurance would cover the remaining N$ 45,000.

13. Premium Cover Explain:

Premium Cover is an additional option available for your rental vehicle, providing added protection at an extra cost per day. With premium cover, the maximum excess you'd be responsible for in case of an accident is capped at N$ 2,000.00, offering peace of mind in unforeseen circumstances. Please note tires and windscreen cover is not included in Premium Cover.
